Getting an education in Coosa and Tallapoosa Counties is a little easier since Central Alabama Community College is located in Tallapoosa County and other two-year and four-year colleges and universities are within commuting distance.
Auburn University is just 30 minutes away from the Lake Martin area and is a major four-year university. The university is well-known for its engineering program, having offered engineering courses since 1872. The school has been consistently ranked among the nation's top 20 engineering programs by the number of students who graduate from the program.

Central Alabama Community College (CACC), located in Alexander City (Tallapoosa County), offers two-year academic and technical degree programs, as well as certificates, preparation for four-year degrees, and workforce training. The Alexander City campus of CACC has the Betty Carol Graham Technology Center and the Advanced Center for Simulation and Modeling.
